i’m seeing my hard core believing relatives slowly losing faith that the watchtower is the organization that “god” is using to represent him on earth.. just about all the churches in their area have opened up.. but not the watchtower.. this is having an affect on the faith of even the old timers.
now the only ones who are still holding the faith are the female jws and only those past 70 years of age.
even my old male jw relative past 70 are starting to say that it can’t be jehovah’s organization because the other churches are all open and god supposed organization who is supposed to preach the warning message is still closed with no open in sight.
They are still under their beds. Maybe pinning hope on the delta variant. I am. When meetings do start there will be the realization of really dressing and traveling. We elderly can maybe opt out for health reasons or night blindness preventing driving. (damn the newer headlights )
Those extra meetings were not private groups but local elders adding a half hour or more text every day and 2 hours special talk or video on Saturday. You were frowned on if you missed any.
ok, i would like to submit to the forum the following question: in abstract, do you think that there is a right to not being exposed to ideas that you don’t like or disagree with?
please think it through and its implications on both ends of the spectrum.. it’s not the right to conscientious objection to do something you vehemently disagree with; it’s not about the liberty to chose which ideas you want to embrace or advocate.
it’s something different.. given that, as exjws, we understand the importance of being exposed to different opinions in order to form our own opinion, should someone claim the right not to be exposed to opinions or ideas that they don’t like?

this year independence day , the 4th of july, went mostly unnoticed.
the weather didn’t help for many but besides that, the day was looked upon by news media and politicians as very negative.

to the majority of people who investigate the activities of the wts from its beginning history there were obvious false proclamations and doctrines propagated by the wts.. a matter of fact the wts produced a long list of literature that posted proclamations on the front cover and went into detail of things that were suppose to happen, from jesus returning changing the world in which we live and so on.. wonderful things one might say but not factual or either theologically correct .

I remember a story of a householder who did have a quarter. Instead of donating the magazine the publisher had to let it go and send the person to destruction.
it's pretty easy to see how current events would have any jw convinced the end is imminent, but i just don't see how there could be a major push for zealous service, pioneering, etc.

even if (when) world events happen periodically that could scare the r&f, there are now countless hours of hd video of jw leaders saying how close the end is.
There was a sense of urgency 30 years ago, 60 years ago. Parents remembered urgency 90 years ago.

even if you disapprove of much about the wt and/or its religion, what aspects do you view most favorably about the wt and/or its religion?
for me one of the things i view most favorably about the wt and its religion is its extremely strong insistence that jws never intentionally kill another human being.
i especially appreciate that regarding those who have been born, but i think some abortions of human embryos might be justifiable.
The racial harmony us one of the few things they have right. Note that you will still find racial cliques, along with the "moneyed". The morality preached along with committed marriage is good, even though not practiced in reality
The religion I was born into has changed immensely. Some of the changes I notice comes from my maturity and being in a suburb instead the core city where I started. The city had salt if the earth who would give the shirt off their back, the burbs will too, except it has a $ attached.
hello.. i remember some time ago someone brought up a letter to congregations or some other similar instruction, instructing the elders to "contact the authorities immediately" if something like a robbery or trouble came upon a kingdom hall.. does anyone remember that?
